Objects of Unknown Use is the story of a nameless traveler and their double or “ka” traversing a post-apocalyptic landscape. It employs the language of collections, collected objects and first person experiences, to reflect upon systems of belief. These systems are a belief in the afterlife and life in outer space. Inspired by the simultaneous reading of three texts; a UFO encounter blog, a catalog of The Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, and R.O. Faulkner's translation of The Egyptian Book of the Dead, the book uses aleatory processes to merge past and future timelines into a science fiction poetic text. This text is complemented by atmospheric imagery of skies, ancient objects of art, and wings, eternal symbol of flight and the soul.
